Chancellor’s Historic Visit

Reconnects Orchard Lake Schools with

Polish Episcopate

Very Reverend Canon Mirosław K. Król returned to campus

in late October after an extraordinary visit to Poland to

address the Polish Episcopate, upon their invitation, and

to reestablish cooperation between them and SS. Cyril

& Methodius Seminary (SSCMS). He also met with

then-Prime Minister of Poland Beata Maria Szydło, and

Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to

Poland.

He continued on his historic journey to Rome to celebrate

a very special and moving Mass at the Vatican on October

22 at the tomb of the beloved St. John Paul II, on his Feast

Day. On Wednesday of the same week, Stanisław Cardinal

Dziwisz presided at Mass at which Fr. Król gave a homily

in Polish and English. There were other priest canons from

Poland and the United States along with special guest

Mr. Angelo Gugel and his wife, and many others.

Mr. Gugel was St. John Paul II’s personal assistant during

his whole pontificate.

Fr. Krol’s remarkable visit, demonstrating his leadership in

reconnecting the mission of SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary

with Poland and the Catholic Church, serves as a reminder

to the Polish Episcopate that SSCMS and the entire Orchard

Lake Schools family are prepared to grow with the Church.

SSCMS has prepared nearly 2,000 priests for the Church,

for service to the Catholic people in dioceses in the United

States and around the world and lay people who serve

academia and spread the Word of God.
